The Monte-Carlo Polo Team has launched a new initiative aimed at broadening the appeal of polo beyond its traditional elite audience…

Titled The Polo Xperience, the new event series kicked off in Saint-Tropez and is set to tour globally, with upcoming matches scheduled in the United States, Spain, and Dubai. The ultimate ambition is to bring the event home to Monaco, with a discovery tournament in the Principality itself.

The concept is simple but powerful: to share the passion, skill, and teamwork behind polo with a wider public. More than just a sport, polo is a demanding discipline requiring a deep connection between rider and horse, intense physical training, and precise coordination.

Each match consists of four seven-minute chukkas, with teams of four switching horses between periods and even reversing field sides after each goal. The game is played at speed, with players hitting a small ball using long mallets—always with the right hand—while galloping across uneven terrain.

The horses, bred and trained in Argentina, are at the heart of the sport. Treated as top-level athletes, they are fed, trained, and cared for by specialist grooms who form a vital part of every polo team. As seen in Saint-Tropez, the Monte-Carlo team’s bond—both with their horses and among themselves—is a major asset. Many of the players have trained together for over a decade.

The Polo Xperience is more than a sporting event, it’s an invitation to discover the dynamism, tradition, and community spirit that defines modern polo.
