The annual gala of the International German Club of Monaco took place in the Ballroom of the Yacht Club, in a room decorated with flowers around a white cat walk and a vegetable moss painting…
This year, the Club wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the enthronement of Prince Albert II, who has also been its Honorary President for 20 years.
The Club Committee decided to offer him a ‘painting’ in vegetable moss, with his Monogram. This was because the Prince, during the exhibition “Vertical Gardens,” organised by Mrs Helga Piaget last November had lingered for a long time to look at paintings made of this ecological material. To be specific: this vegetable moss is alive, does not need any maintenance, feeds on ambient humidity, purifies the air that surrounds it and acts as a natural air conditioner. A true ecological wonder!
The painting was unveiled after a short speech by Mr Patrick Wetzel, Co-President of the CAI, who highlighted the Principality’s successes over the past 20 years. The Club Committee then handed over this moss work to Mrs Lambin-Berti, Secretary of State, who represented the Sovereign Prince during the cocktail, which was offered by Angela Kleiber, Vice-President of the Club. Mrs Lambin-Berti thanked the Club for a present that perfectly fits the ecological priorities of the Prince.

The evening continued with a magnificent fashion show, designed by Mrs Isabelle Kristensen, with dresses in pastel colours, white, pink and blue, long and short, all of great beauty, and worn by elegant models on a wide white cat walk. The magnificent collection was photographed and applauded by all the guests.
At the end of the evening, a raffle offering overnight stays in some of the most beautiful hotels in Europe and the world raised funds for the Club’s charitable and sponsorship activities. The band ‘White Cats’ trained everyone to dance with a selection of the most famous international melodies.
