Monaco’s beloved open-air cinema on Chemin des Pêcheurs reopened for the summer season last Friday, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy films under the stars with one of the most iconic backdrops in Europe…

While this year’s lineup lacks major global blockbusters like last summer’s Barbie and Oppenheimer double bill, the programme remains diverse and appealing, featuring titles such as F1 (starring Brad Pitt), Materialists, Superman, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and Jurassic World – Rebirth.

The venue, which boasts Europe’s largest suspended cinema screen and Dolby 7.1 surround sound, has introduced several upgrades to improve the audience experience. Enhancements include a refurbished wooden platform, refreshed black sofas, and a reorganised bar with a new third sales station to help reduce queues. A new collaboration with local brand Mixt Drinks brings canned cocktails to the bar menu.

Ticket prices for seating remain unchanged, ranging from €9 to €23 depending on seat type, although bar prices have risen slightly due to supplier costs, with snacks increasing by €0.50 to €1. Films continue to be shown in their original language with French subtitles, and the venue maintains its walk-up ticketing system without advance booking.

While Monaco’s Fine Arts cinema continues to struggle with modernisation and profitability, the open-air cinema thrives thanks to its flexibility and charm—offering a nostalgic yet modern viewing experience in the heart of the Principality.
