Indosuez Wealth Management is poised to further cement its dominant position in Monaco’s financial sector with the acquisition of BNP Paribas’ Wealth Management client portfolio in the Principality. The agreement, signed through CFM Indosuez — the local branch of Indosuez Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole — marks a significant consolidation move in the highly competitive Monegasque wealth management market.
This strategic transaction will see Indosuez take over the wealth management relationships previously handled by BNP Paribas’ Monaco subsidiary, providing clients with uninterrupted service and access to CFM Indosuez’s extensive financial expertise. The deal builds on nearly a century of Indosuez’s presence in Monaco, where it has been active since 1922.
For the clients making the transition, the change is expected to be smooth, with continued access to a broad range of high-end financial services. These include bespoke wealth management, international banking networks, corporate finance expertise, fund servicing, and access to the global resources and stability of Crédit Agricole, the world’s ninth-largest banking group.
The acquisition is complemented by a long-term strategic partnership between Indosuez and BNP Paribas, ensuring that clients with wealth management needs in Monaco will continue to receive comprehensive support.
“This acquisition represents a key milestone in Indosuez’s growth strategy in Europe, particularly within a sector that is undergoing significant consolidation,” said Jacques Prost, Chief Executive Officer of Indosuez Wealth Management. “It strengthens our position among ultra-high-net-worth clients in Monaco, a market where we are already firmly established.”
Mathieu Ferragut, CEO of CFM Indosuez Wealth Management and Deputy CEO of Indosuez Wealth Management, echoed this sentiment, adding, “We are proud to welcome BNP Paribas’ Wealth Management clients to CFM Indosuez. This reinforces our standing as Monaco’s leading bank and largest private sector employer. Our teams are committed to ensuring this transition is a success for both clients and employees.”
From BNP Paribas’ perspective, the deal is part of a strategic decision to streamline operations in the Principality. “We are pleased to have reached this agreement with CFM Indosuez, a trusted and well-established player in the market,” said Françoise Puzenat, Head of BNP Paribas Monaco. “Our focus in Monaco will now centre on strengthening our commercial banking platform, including corporate banking, private banking, and retail services.”
The acquisition remains subject to approval by regulatory authorities, with completion expected in the first half of 2026. According to Crédit Agricole, the transaction is anticipated to have only a limited impact on the group’s CET1 capital ratio.
If approved, the deal will solidify Indosuez’s role as a major player in Monaco’s financial landscape, reflecting a wider trend of consolidation within the European wealth management sector.
