Monaco’s diplomatic ties with Central Europe took centre stage as the Principality’s Embassy in Germany convened its annual meeting of honorary consuls on 30 May in Vienna. The gathering, initiated by H.E. Mr Lorenzo Ravano — Monaco’s Ambassador to Germany, Austria, and Poland — alongside Vienna-based Honorary Consul Mr Christian Dorda, provided a valuable forum for dialogue and strategic planning.

Held against a backdrop of dynamic political change across the region — with snap elections in Germany, a new government in Austria, and upcoming presidential elections in Poland — this year’s meeting sparked in-depth discussions on current political, social, and economic developments. The event also allowed Monaco’s diplomatic mission to outline its strategic vision for strengthening bilateral ties over the coming year.

In addition to the formal agenda, the Vienna visit included a cultural exchange with members of the German International Club of Monaco. Around thirty club members joined the delegation for a rich cultural itinerary that included tours of the imperial Schönbrunn Palace, the Liechtenstein Palace, and Vienna’s historic royal workshops. The group also attended a performance of Verdi’s Il Trovatore at the world-renowned Vienna State Opera, culminating in an elegant gala dinner at the iconic Hotel Sacher’s Marble Hall — a fitting close to a diplomatic and cultural celebration in the heart of Austria.
