French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Monaco for a historic state visit, the first of its kind in over four decades…

The visit, taking place from Saturday to Sunday, carries the highest diplomatic status and underscores a shared commitment between France and Monaco to ocean preservation ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice.

President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron were welcomed at the Prince’s Palace by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. The visit included full ceremonial honours, private audiences between the respective heads of state and their spouses, and the exchange of gifts and decorations. The day concluded with a formal State Dinner in the Palace’s Throne Room.

On Sunday, the agenda turns toward environmental innovation. Prince Albert II will present Monaco’s Seawergie system at Larvotto, showcasing the Principality’s pioneering use of thalassothermal energy to sustainably heat and cool buildings. President Macron will then visit the Oceanographic Museum to view the immersive exhibition Mediterranean 2050, while the Prince opens the Blue & Economy Finance Forum at the Grimaldi Forum.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlene and Brigitte Macron will take part in Water Safety Day at the Louis II Stadium pool, where they will promote drowning prevention and rescue skills.

The state visit will conclude with a Heads of State lunch at the Monaco Yacht Club before the delegation departs by sea for Nice, continuing the momentum of joint French-Monegasque leadership in marine conservation.
