In a vibrant tribute to one of the most iconic films of the 1980s, students from the Collège and Lycée François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré (FANB) brought Back to the Future to life on stage in a bold, original, and delightfully nostalgic production…

Titled Retour vers le Futur, the ambitious project involved more than 100 students, teachers, and staff, transforming the Rainer III Auditorium into a time-travelling theatre. From sixth form to final year, the cast and crew worked together for nearly a year to deliver a show that was equal parts musical, comedy, and visual spectacle.

The stage adaptation combined rock music covers, dance numbers, and original theatrical performances, all tied together with handmade sets, imaginative props, and retro costumes that paid homage to the beloved 1985 film. Highlights included a painstakingly recreated Hill Valley High School, a giant model of the town’s clock tower, and even a near life-size DeLorean; crafted from a mix of plywood, PVC, and cardboard after months of design challenges.

The spirit of collaboration extended far beyond the student body. Teachers and staff played key behind-the-scenes roles, handling logistics, directing choreography, designing sets, and guiding the technical theatre. Their efforts were not only met with roaring applause but also reinforced the importance of community and creativity in education.

More than 500 spectators packed the auditorium to witness the performance, which was met with laughter, emotion, and standing ovations. The show was a heartfelt journey through time and imagination, driven by the energy, humour, and talent of Monaco’s next generation. For students, teachers, and parents alike, it was more than a school play—it was a time machine powered by passion.
