Marius Monaco is shifting gears this Grand Prix season with a striking new exhibition by world-renowned artist Marcos Marín. The high-octane showcase, titled F1 Icons, opens to the public on Monday, May 26, and forms the centrepiece of the restaurant’s ongoing “Art of Storytelling” initiative.

Timed to coincide with the Monaco Grand Prix, the exhibition unveils over 30 original seriography prints of Formula 1 legends—never-before-seen works created exclusively for this show. Alongside these debut pieces, Marín presents a powerful mix of sculptures, silkscreens, and kinetic totems that celebrate the legends of Formula 1 both past and present. The collection is a vivid tribute to speed, legacy, and visual innovation, brought to life in Marín’s unmistakable optical art style.

Among the standout works is his towering three-metre portrait of Ayrton Senna, co-signed by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Senna’s sister, Viviane Senna—a piece that merges racing reverence with royal recognition. Other portraits span the decades, honouring icons from Monaco’s own Louis Chiron to trailblazer Maria Teresa de Filippis, the first woman to compete in Formula 1, who raced in the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix.

Born in São Paulo to a filmmaker father and opera singer mother, Marcos Marín was a classical piano prodigy before pivoting to visual art. A life-changing encounter with Victor Vasarely in Paris propelled him into the world of Op Art, where he developed his signature blend of kinetic energy, musical influence, and visual rhythm. Over the past 40 years, Marín has created works for royalty, heads of state, and global cultural figures. His monumental sculptures and portraits—such as those of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III—are now permanent fixtures across the Riviera and beyond.

Marius Monaco’s “Art of Storytelling” initiative has become a launchpad for immersive exhibitions, transforming the restaurant into a cultural hub that champions narrative-driven art. This latest chapter follows the venue’s acclaimed showing of “The Age of Aquarius,” which featured rare collaborative lithographs by Jean Cocteau and Raymond Moretti.

With F1 Icons, Marius Monaco invites both art lovers and racing fans to witness the fusion of speed and story through the eyes of one of contemporary art’s most inventive visionaries.
