Monaco has reaffirmed its commitment to the sport of cycling with the announcement of a new international cycling academy, unveiled by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II during a special event at the Yacht Club de Monaco…

The news comes as the Principality prepares to host the Grand Départ of the Vuelta a España in 2026, further cementing its growing role as a destination for world-class cycling.

The new institution, named the Prince Albert II Cycling Academy, is set to become the world’s first dedicated structure of its kind, aiming to train and mentor the next generation of elite cyclists. The initiative was introduced as part of the official programme marking Monaco’s involvement with La Vuelta and underlines a strategic vision to develop professional cycling talent within a prestigious and supportive environment.

Modelled on the Principality’s success in football development through AS Monaco, the academy will nurture both male and female cyclists, promote sustainable practices in the sport, and uphold a strong stance against doping. It will also benefit from Monaco’s unique geography, infrastructure, and status as a hub for elite athletes.

With cycling’s popularity on the rise and Monaco increasingly positioned at the crossroads of sport and performance, the launch of the Prince Albert II Cycling Academy marks a significant step forward in the Principality’s sporting legacy.
