In a ceremony held at the Condamine Emergency Centre, Monaco’s fire brigade officially unveiled a new badge; only the third in the Corps’ long history…

Approved by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, the badge marks a symbolic moment for the Compagnie des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco, honouring its heritage while reinforcing the unity and values of the force.

Colonel Maxime Evrard, Chief of Monaco’s fire brigade, described the new insignia as a powerful emblem that embodies the Corps’ core principles: courage, dedication, and sacrifice. “It’s a badge that tells our story,” he said, emphasising its importance as a symbol of belonging and pride among the unit’s members. The updated design pays homage to the Principality’s history and military traditions, incorporating red and white colours, the princely crown, axes and flames, and a monogram of Prince Albert I, founder of the fire brigade in 1909.

The new badge replaces a more recent iteration considered too heavily influenced by French heraldry. In contrast, this redesign brings the Corps back to its roots by modernising the very first badge ever used, making it not only a marker of identity but a visible link between past and present. For Colonel Evrard, the badge reflects not just history but also the unity and esprit de corps essential to the demanding profession of firefighting.

This historic update serves as a reminder of Monaco’s deep respect for tradition and the enduring commitment of its emergency services.
