Monaco’s Ambassador to Spain, H.E. Catherine Fautrier-Rousseau, visited Palma de Mallorca on Friday, May 2, as part of a diplomatic outreach mission to the Balearic Islands.

Organised by Monaco’s Consul for the Balearic Islands, Laura Calvo Borrego, the visit included high-level meetings aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Principality and the region. Ambassador Fautrier-Rousseau was welcomed by Balearic President Margalida Prohens Rigo, with discussions focusing on shared interests such as environmental protection, tourism, port activities, and yachting — areas where both territories boast strong reputations and mutual potential.

The Ambassador also held talks with Palma’s Mayor, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, where the spotlight turned to cultural diplomacy. The two discussed the possibility of hosting an exhibition in 2026 to mark 150 years of diplomatic relations between Monaco and Spain — a milestone that underscores a long-standing bond between the nations.

Before her official meetings, Ambassador Fautrier-Rousseau visited the Monaco Consulate in Palma, where she met with Consul Calvo Borrego and her team to review consular activities and future initiatives in the region.
