On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the Principality paid tribute to the patron saint of its police force with the annual Messe de la Saint-Georges, held at the Église Sainte-Dévote…

The ceremony gathered senior Monegasque officials, representatives from French institutions, and notably, Charlotte Casiraghi, patron of the Sûreté Publique, in a show of respect and unity.

The mass began with a welcome address by Éric Arella, Controller of the Direction de la Sûreté Publique, before the religious service was co-celebrated by Archbishop Dominique-Marie David and Police Chaplain Father Julien Gollino. This solemn moment reaffirmed the deep spiritual and civic bond between the Principality and its law enforcement community.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the reading of the “Police Officer’s Prayer,” a text written in 2022 to mark the 120th anniversary of the Sûreté Publique. Delivered by a serving officer, the prayer captured the sense of duty, resilience, and moral strength that define the force’s everyday work.

Celebrated annually on April 23, Saint George’s Day carries great symbolic meaning. As a legendary figure of courage and protection, Saint George represents the virtues that guide police services in Monaco and many other countries—valor, service, and integrity.

This year’s observance offered a heartfelt moment to reflect on the vital role of Monaco’s police, while reinforcing the values of faith, honour, and public service that remain at the core of the Principality’s security institutions.
