Marius Monaco, the elegant portside restaurant known for its refined Provençal cuisine, has launched a new cultural initiative titled THE ART OF STORYTELLING, aimed at showcasing artistic talent through annual exhibitions…

The project opens with a remarkable debut: THE AGE OF AQUARIUS, a curated exhibition of original lithographs created by legendary French artist Jean Cocteau in collaboration with the painter Raymond Moretti, a Nice native.

Displayed across both indoor and outdoor areas of the restaurant, the exhibition tells a visual story rooted in the creative synergy between Cocteau and Moretti. The pair met in Villefranche-sur-Mer, where the established Cocteau became captivated by the younger Moretti’s talent. Their resulting work, painted in Moretti’s studio at Victorine Studios in Nice, features gouaches and oils exploring the astrological Age of Aquarius—with Cocteau painting the left half and Moretti the right.

General Manager Raphaël Rouget sees the initiative as more than an art display. “THE ART OF STORYTELLING reflects our vision of a vibrant venue where artistic emotion enhances culinary pleasure,” he explains. Visitors to Marius Monaco can also admire pieces from Cocteau’s Taureaux series, adding depth to the artistic experience.

The exhibition arrives amid a wave of renewed interest in Cocteau and Moretti, both the subject of major retrospectives in Menton and Nice.

In addition to the visual feast, Marius Monaco offers live jazz and R&B performances, signature cocktails, themed happy hours, and a complimentary chauffeur service in vintage cars. Looking ahead, May will bring a new spotlight on acclaimed sculptor Marcos Marin with his “F1” collection, celebrating the dynamic world of Formula 1.

With this bold integration of gastronomy and culture, Marius Monaco is cementing its place as a contemporary hub for Monaco’s creative scene.
