On the morning of April 23, 2025, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II inaugurated the new Belvédère building at the Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG), marking a major step in the transformation of Monaco’s medical infrastructure…
Located between the Tamaris and Louis I buildings, this 1,300 m² state-of-the-art facility now houses two essential services: the newly enhanced Maison du don and the anatomopathology department, equipped with cutting-edge molecular biology capabilities.
This new site represents the first “drawer” operation in the construction of the Nouveau CHPG, allowing for continuity of care and services during the hospital’s gradual redevelopment. During his visit, the Sovereign Prince explored the Maison du don—Monaco’s blood donation center—now upgraded to enable plasma donation, further enhancing the Principality’s self-sufficiency in transfusion medicine. The Prince paid tribute to the altruism of blood donors and the life-saving impact of their contributions.
The anatomopathology service, which plays a crucial role in diagnosing cancers, infections, and inflammatory diseases, has now been consolidated into one modern location. The arrival of the Idila platform enables rapid gene sequencing on-site, reducing analysis times from weeks to mere hours. As a result, patients benefit from faster, personalised treatments—especially crucial in oncology, where time is often critical.
With this inauguration, the CHPG reaffirms its commitment to innovative, responsive healthcare. Minister of Health Christophe Robino and Director Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges praised the building as a cornerstone of Monaco’s medical future, serving both science and compassion at the heart of patient care.
