The Princely Palace of Monaco was illuminated in vibrant green as the Principality joined the worldwide celebrations of Saint Patrick’s Day…

The annual tribute to Ireland’s patron saint saw key landmarks bathed in emerald light, reinforcing the strong cultural ties between Monaco and the Irish community.

Saint Patrick’s Day, once a religious occasion, has evolved into a global festival of Irish heritage, marked by music, dancing, and, of course, a hearty toast with a pint of Guinness. In Monaco, the celebration took centre stage at the Princess Grace Irish Library, where a special concert featuring traditional Irish group Dovelin brought the spirit of Ireland to life. The group, whose name derives from the old Irish name for Dublin, captivated audiences with lively folk tunes and rich storytelling.

Speaking about the significance of the event, the library’s director highlighted Saint Patrick’s deep connection to Ireland. Having been brought to the country as a captive from England, Patrick later returned as a priest, spreading Christianity and using the three-leaf clover to explain the Holy Trinity—a symbol that remains iconic to this day.

Monaco’s Irish community and local residents gathered to embrace the celebration, enjoying an evening of music, history, and camaraderie. With the Sovereign Prince’s continued support, the Saint Patrick’s Day festivities have become a cherished annual tradition in the Principality, blending religious roots with modern revelry.

As the lights of the Palace shone green, the celebration in Monaco echoed a worldwide message—wherever you are, on March 17, everyone is a little bit Irish.
