The Serenissimes of Humor festival brought a vibrant mix of comedy and nostalgia to Monaco, featuring performances from renowned French comedians Philippe Lellouche, Michel Boujenah, and Booder at the Grimaldi Forum…

The festival opened on March 12th with Philippe Lellouche’s first solo stand-up show, Standalone, marking a departure from his usual film and theatre work. The actor and director, known for his roles in Camping 3 and Alibi.com 2, explored themes of childhood, relationships, and life in modern society. Performing alone for the first time in Monaco, Lellouche captivated a 600-strong audience with his reflections on growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, drawing comparisons to today’s ever-changing world.

Veteran comedian Michel Boujenah followed on the 13th March with Adieu Les Magnifiques, a farewell to the beloved characters that launched his career four decades ago. With a mix of humour and introspection, Boujenah explored themes of family, heritage, and generational change, highlighting how older generations shape the identity of the younger ones. As reported by Monaco Matin, he expressed his deep connection to these characters while embracing new creative pursuits, including a potential film adaptation and a desire to mentor young talent.

Closing the festival was Booder with his show Booder is Back, delivering a lighthearted yet thought-provoking take on contemporary issues. Addressing topics such as mental health, Booder infused humour with social commentary, engaging the audience with his distinctive comedic style.

The Serenissimes of Humor once again proved to be a major highlight on Monaco’s cultural calendar, bringing top-tier French comedy to the Principality while fostering moments of laughter, nostalgia, and deeper reflection.
