Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene visited the Monte-Carlo Nursery, which reopened in January following six months of extensive renovation work…

Accompanied by Monaco’s mayor and local officials, the Princely couple toured the upgraded facility, which now offers 36 cradles for children aged two months to two years.

The visit included a blessing of the newly renovated nursery by Father Jean-Ariel Ba Salinas, after which the Prince and Princess interacted with the young children and staff. Located near Saint-Charles Church and School, the Monte-Carlo Nursery is a well-established institution, having first opened in 1997 to serve families in the heart of Monaco.

The rehabilitation project was essential to modernizing the facility and aligning it with current early childhood care standards, including improved accessibility for people with reduced mobility. A key feature of the redesign is a free-path system, allowing children to move independently between different themed activity areas.

“This concept encourages child-led exploration and interaction,” explained a representative of the nursery. “Children can choose their own activities, whether it’s music, storytelling, or hands-on learning, fostering independence and social engagement.”

Following the completion of this phase, attention will now turn to renovating the section for older children aged two to three years, with work scheduled to begin at the end of May. The project underscores Monaco’s commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for its youngest residents.
