Monaco’s famed orange trees, long cherished for their decorative and symbolic value, have taken on a new role in recent years—one that embodies both tradition and innovation…

Once overlooked, the oranges of the Principality are now at the heart of a unique artisanal product: the liqueurs of L’Orangerie de Monaco, a brand committed to transforming these local fruits into a symbol of excellence.

Established in 2017, L’Orangerie was born out of a simple yet ambitious idea: to rescue the thousands of oranges that were previously discarded and turn them into something exceptional. Today, the annual harvest reaches up to 16,000 kilograms, sourced from nearly 600 trees scattered across the Principality. These once-wasted fruits are now meticulously crafted into a range of premium liqueurs, attracting the attention of connoisseurs and gastronomic elites.

The production process adheres to strict artisanal methods, using natural Mediterranean ingredients, including Monaco’s national tree, the carob tree. This tree, endemic to the region for over 2,000 years, holds historical significance, having saved the Monegasque people during an 18th-century famine. Rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, the carob adds depth to L’Orangerie’s liqueurs, blending history with contemporary craftsmanship.

By reinventing a local natural resource, L’Orangerie de Monaco exemplifies the Principality’s ability to merge tradition with modernity, making its liqueurs a refined emblem of Monegasque savoir-faire.
