The Principality of Monaco, a globally renowned tourist destination, is launching a large-scale survey to better understand the behaviours, preferences, and spending habits of its visitors…

Conducted by the Monaco Government’s Directorate of Tourism and Congresses (DTC) in collaboration with the Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE), this initiative aims to provide a comprehensive picture of Monaco’s tourism landscape.

The last major study of this kind dates back to 2010, and given the evolution of travel patterns, the need for updated data is crucial. The survey targets all categories of visitors, including cruise passengers, day-trippers, and overnight tourists, gathering insights on their nationality, purpose of visit, spending habits, and preferred activities. Whether guests come for major events like the Formula 1 Grand Prix, business conferences, or leisure travel, the collected information will help authorities tailor future tourism strategies to enhance visitor experiences.

To facilitate participation, tourists can complete the questionnaire digitally via QR codes displayed throughout Monaco, including posters, restaurants, and other high-traffic areas. Additionally, DTC hostesses at the Tourist Office and various events will assist visitors in completing the survey.

The results, expected to be released in 2026, will guide future decisions on tourism services, infrastructure improvements, and event planning, reinforcing Monaco’s position as a premier global destination. By adapting its offerings to evolving visitor expectations, the Principality aims to sustain its strong tourism sector while enhancing its appeal to international travellers.
