Monaco is preparing to host the 118th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters from Saturday, April 5 to Sunday, April 13, with exciting developments that promise to elevate the tournament’s prestige. During a press conference at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, Tournament Director David Massey outlined the key changes and expectations for this year’s event, which will once again take place on the renowned clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
As one of the most iconic stops on the ATP Masters 1000 circuit, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters holds a special place in the tennis calendar, much like the Monaco Grand Prix does in motorsport. Every spring, the Principality comes alive with world-class tennis, attracting elite players, devoted fans, and a global audience. Reflecting on the 2024 edition, which saw Stefanos Tsitsipas reclaim the title, Massey confirmed that the upcoming draw ceremony will be held on Friday, April 4 at 17:00, led by the defending champion and broadcast live on Monaco Info.
While the official player lineup will only be finalised on Tuesday, March 11, Massey remains confident that this year’s competition will feature some of the biggest names in the sport. Last year’s tournament drew over 148,000 spectators and reached more than 36 million television viewers, with extensive global coverage spanning 185 markets. Social media engagement was equally impressive, with over 240 million views recorded throughout the event.
To further enhance the experience for players, the Monte-Carlo Beach Club will be transformed into a private Players’ Village, offering world-class hospitality, breathtaking sea views, and gourmet dining. The expansion of the tournament site by 35 percent will ensure that athletes have an ideal environment to prepare and unwind, reinforcing Monte Carlo’s reputation for excellence.
Spectators can also expect improvements, with increased transport options including additional buses and trains to facilitate access to the venue. The Click & Collect service and on-site amenities will be upgraded, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees. A notable tribute this year is the renaming of Court No. 2 to Court Elizabeth-Ann de Massy in honour of a key figure in Monaco’s tennis legacy. The court will now host four matches per day, providing another stage for top-tier competition.
In a groundbreaking move, the tournament will introduce Hawk-Eye technology and Video Review for the first time in its history. This innovation will eliminate disputes over line calls and enhance fairness, a step that Massey believes will further elevate the tournament’s reputation for integrity and precision.
Rolex continues as the title sponsor, alongside long-standing partners BNP Paribas, Replay, Malongo, and Monaco Telecom. A new addition to the sponsorship roster this year is luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples. Beyond the competition, the tournament remains committed to its charitable initiatives, with the “Points for Change” campaign raising 37,204 euros last year for GEMLUC, supporting cancer research. The much-loved Children’s Day will return on Sunday, April 6, followed by the prestigious Grande Nuit du Tennis at the Sporting Monte-Carlo, an event that has been a highlight since 1992.
