With large crowds expected during the festive season, authorities have prioritized prevention and rapid response to potential threats.
In Monaco, security measures at the Christmas Village on Quai Albert-Ier and the Sports Village at Port Hercule have been intensified. Both areas are fully enclosed with barriers and feature security checkpoints at all entrances. To deter vehicle intrusions, reinforced concrete barriers, retractable bollards, and stop blocks have been installed. Following a recent attack in Germany, additional vehicles have been stationed near the entrances for added protection. The Principality’s police presence has also been significantly increased, with both uniformed and plainclothes officers on duty day and night.
Elsewhere, cities like Nice rely on advanced technology, such as metal detectors and surveillance cameras, alongside anti-intrusion barriers and increased municipal police patrols. Cannes has similarly strengthened its police presence, employing both private security personnel and military patrols. Antibes takes a more structured approach, with fenced-off areas and stringent entry screenings using metal detectors. Menton, while confident in its existing high-level security, has added extra patrols around its market.
These coordinated efforts across the region demonstrate a collective commitment to safeguarding holiday traditions, allowing residents and visitors to celebrate the season with peace of mind.
