Starting January 1, 2025, Monaco’s Médiathèque will offer free membership to all, a decision spearheaded by Mayor Georges Marsan to promote equal access to culture. “Culture is a necessity, not a luxury,” Marsan emphasised, highlighting the Municipal Council’s commitment to ensuring accessibility for all residents.
As a central hub for knowledge, the Media Library’s move to eliminate fees reflects a broader effort to foster cultural inclusion. The initiative also seeks to address key societal challenges, including improving digital literacy and expanding access to information.
The removal of these financial barriers ensures that everyone in the community can take full advantage of the library’s extensive resources and programs.
