On November 24, 2024, Monaco’s Salle des Étoiles once again became the centre of the rugby universe, hosting the prestigious World Rugby Awards under the High Patronage of Princess Charlene.
Marking the fourth time the Principality has welcomed this illustrious event, the ceremony celebrated the finest achievements in global rugby across 14 award categories, concluding the international rugby season in style.
French rugby stars dominated the evening, with Antoine Dupont making history as the first player to be crowned both the Best Rugby Union Player and Best Rugby 7s Player in his career. Reflecting on his journey, Dupont highlighted the collective spirit of the sport, saying, “Rugby is a team effort, and this award belongs as much to my teammates and staff as it does to me.”
Jérôme Daré, the coach of France’s Olympic champion Rugby 7s team, was named Best Coach of the Year, while Nolan Le Garrec of Racing 92 earned the Try of the Year award for a standout performance. Both honourees expressed their pride in representing French rugby on the global stage.
The evening also celebrated the season’s top male and female players, breakout stars, and members of the highly anticipated ‘Dream Team.’ Public and jury votes determined the winners, with legends like Thierry Dusautoir and Rachael Burford contributing their expertise.
The ceremony underscored Monaco’s growing reputation as a hub for world-class sporting events, aligning with its rich history of hosting prestigious occasions. As rugby’s elite gathered to honour the year’s achievements, the event also reinforced Monaco’s commitment to supporting international sport, making it a key destination for global athletic celebrations.
