A minor fire broke out on the evening of Tuesday, October 22, at the construction site of the future Mareterra district in Monaco, prompting a swift response from local firefighters. The fire originated on the balcony of an apartment under construction in the upscale development.
Witnesses in the nearby Larvotto area quickly noticed the flames and smoke, leading to an immediate alert. The Monegasque fire department dispatched five vehicles, 20 personnel, and a reconnaissance drone to the scene to assess the situation and prevent any potential spread of the fire to nearby areas. However, upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire, caused by rubbish, had already been extinguished by workers on site.
This incident follows a previous intervention at the Mareterra construction site on September 17, when firefighters rescued a 58-year-old worker after a work-related accident. The man was transported to Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco in a stable condition.
The Mareterra district, currently under development, is set to become one of Monaco’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, and safety remains a top priority as construction progresses.
