Monaco has signed a framework cooperation agreement with Burundi, aimed at deepening ties and enhancing cooperation between the two nations…
As part of this ongoing commitment and inline with the national priorities, a Monegasque delegation, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Isabelle Berro Amadeï, is currently visiting Burundi to reaffirm Monaco’s support for key initiatives in the country.
Monaco has been actively involved in Burundi since 2008, focusing on areas such as health, education, and food security. One of the Principality’s significant efforts in Burundi has been its partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to support school canteens, ensuring that children receive at least one balanced meal per day. This program is crucial in a country that, while rich in resources, remains fragile and densely populated.
In a gesture of continued solidarity, Monaco has renewed its partnership with the WFP for another three years. The signing took place on World Food Day, emphasizing the importance of the cause. This recommitment will benefit over 80,000 children across 100 schools in three provinces, providing them with nutritious meals sourced from local agricultural cooperatives.
During their visit, the Monegasque delegation also marked the occasion by visiting the Consulate of Monaco, underscoring the significance of this first ministerial-level visit to Burundi. Monaco’s renewed efforts highlight its dedication to supporting Burundi’s development and addressing food security issues.
