The 18th edition of the Youth Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) was officially launched on Wednesday, October 9, in the presence of key officials including Jean-Philippe Vinci, Director of National Education, Youth, and Sports, and Caroline Rougaignon-Vernin, President of the CESE. The event gathered school leaders from Albert 1er, François d’Assise Nicolas Barré, and Rainier III high schools, as well as teachers coordinating the student groups.

The CESE Youth Council, based on voluntary participation, provides high school students in Monaco an opportunity to contribute to public debates by developing proposals, which are then debated and voted on by their peers before being submitted to the authorities. The students are guided by CESE advisors and meet with public and private stakeholders to gather information for their projects, offering them a hands-on experience with Monaco’s governance processes.

This year, 41 student councillors will participate in the initiative, which will run throughout the academic year and conclude in May with a presentation of their proposals. Since its inception in 2007, the Youth Council has adopted 71 proposals, with several, such as the therapeutic sensory gardens and the City Stadium, successfully implemented. Over 580 students have taken part in the council since its creation.
