The SNCF recently informed passengers that significant construction work will impact the TER train service between Nice and Ventimiglia from September 15, 2024, to June 26, 2025, inclusive.

During this period, train services will be suspended between 21:00 and 06:00, from Sunday to Thursday. The Princely Government has expressed concern about the substantial impact these changes will have on the travel of all individuals—including employees in the Principality, event professionals, visitors, and tourists—who wish to travel to or from Monaco in the evening.

Apart from the introduction of an “exceptional bus service from Monaco to Nice” for SNCF subscribers, no specific alternative solutions have been proposed for employees who commute daily between Monaco and their place of residence for work purposes. D

uring his first private session with members of the National Council, the Minister of State expressed his dismay, stating he was “deeply shocked to read that trains would no longer stop in Monaco after 21:00 This is unacceptable… We must be respected with a certain quality of service and not just be seen as financial backers.”

While the Principality welcomes the planned construction work with a view to improving the service, the Government has requested an urgent meeting with SNCF Réseaux and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region to resolve the situation and ensure better service quality for all those traveling to and from Monaco.
