AS Monaco has secured the signing of 20-year-old Senegalese international midfielder Lamine Camara on a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029. Born on January 1, 2004, in Bignona, Senegal, Camara developed his football skills in his homeland. In 2019, he joined AS Génération Foot and signed his first professional contract in 2021.
Camara has an impressive track record, having played a key role in Senegal’s victory at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2023. His standout performances in these tournaments, including being named man of the match in the CHAN final and best player in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, brought him into the spotlight.
In February 2023, Camara moved to FC Metz, then in Ligue 2. He quickly made an impact, contributing to the team’s promotion to Ligue 1 with notable performances, including a 3-0 win over Bordeaux and a 3-1 victory against Saint-Etienne.
During the 2023/2024 season, Camara was a vital player for FC Metz, appearing in 33 games, scoring two goals, and providing five assists. His efforts earned him the “Pépite de la saison” award for young talent, as voted by the public. Camara also made his debut in the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024, scoring twice in Senegal’s 3-0 win over Gambia.
At Monaco, Camara will wear the number 15 shirt and join his international teammates Krépin Diatta and Ismail Jakobs, aiming to make a significant impact in the team’s midfield.
