Mere minutes from 16:00 on Friday, July 26, the Principality’s police received a report of a serious theft from a German tourist, who had his Richard Mille watch stolen on Avenue Kennedy near Port Hercule.
The Public Safety Service quickly mobilised, utilising Monaco’s extensive video surveillance to aid in their search.
By quarter to six, two suspects were apprehended on a construction site in the Sainte-Dévote valley, just a few hundred meters from the crime scene. The stolen watch was recovered, and the suspects were taken into custody.
The suspects now face charges of theft with aggravating circumstances, including violations of weapons and narcotics legislation. They are both of foreign origin, and are already known to French police. The police force’s judicial division has subsequently launched an investigation into the incident.
