M. Gabriel Revel, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Principality to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, have renewed the voluntary contributions agreement between Monaco and the Organisation.
Monaco reaffirms its support for the Council of Europe by committing to supporting its activities. The programs supported by the Prince’s Government are in line with the international commitments and priorities of the Principality. These concern particularly four areas of activity in which the Council of Europe has demonstrated recognised expertise: – The fight against violence against women, domestic violence and violence towards children in Morocco and Tunisia (Neighborhood Partnership of the Council of Europe); – The Council of Europe Action Plan on the protection of vulnerable people in the context of migration and asylum in Europe; – Strengthening the effectiveness of the European Court of Human Rights through the reduction of the backlog of well-founded cases; – The Fund for the Convention on the Conservation of Wildlife and the Environment nature of Europe (Bern Convention).
Monaco’s relations with the Council of Europe are of great significance, particularly in the context of the Council’s concerns about money-laundering, transparency, and the fight against corruption.
