On April 17, 2024, the Bahamas became the 158th state with which the Principality of Monaco has established diplomatic relations, following the signing of a joint communiqué by the representatives of the two states to the United Nations in New York, His Excellency Mr. Stan Smith and HE Mrs Isabelle Picco.
The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is an island country in the Lucayan archipelago of the West Indies, in the Atlantic Ocean, a member of the United Nations since 1973. It is among the countries more affected by the effects of climate change, particularly during the hurricane season.
The two states will continue their close collaboration in sustainable development, and more particularly on subjects concerning the protection of the oceans and the values of sport.
