Following several years of promises of a better and more frequent train service for Monaco, newly-renovated rolling stock is now entering service, turning hopes and expectations into a very welcome reality.
By the end of 2025 all TER trains serving Monaco Monte-Carlo will have undergone a major refurbishment, from renovation of the motor units to passenger comfort.
There is a promise of four trains per hour serving Monaco from Nice from mid-December, in each direction and all day. Whereas 88 trains per day currently serve Monaco, from that date 130 will serve the Principality each day in both directions.
The aim is to increase hourly frequency to six per hour from 2028, an ambition that may be aided by the inauguration of a new maintenance depot in Nice in the near future.
