Her Excellency Mrs Anne Eastwood has presented her credentials to Their Excellencies MM. Filippo Tamagnini and Gaetano Troina, Captains Regents of the Republic of San Marino.
The ceremony, which was held at the Palazzo Publicco, brought together seven of her counterparts accredited to the Republic, including the Ambassadors of France and Germany, all of whom officially took up their duties that day in San Marino as non-resident Ambassadors.
The day before, HE Mrs Anne Eastwood had been received for an interview by Mr Luca Beccari, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, before a meeting with representatives of the House of San Marino commerce. The discussions focused on the historical links of proximity and friendship between San Marino and Monaco.
With 34,000 inhabitants on a territory of 61 km2, San Marino is in fact the third smallest European State after the Vatican and the Principality.
Among the subjects discussed were the negotiations carried out since 2015 with the European Union with a view to reaching an association agreement.
Both the Minister and the Ambassador welcomed the excellent collaboration achieved in this regard, despite the different outcomes.
The two sides confirmed their desire to continue dialogue and intensify cooperation, on a bilateral level as part of initiatives aimed at more broadly uniting the small states of Europe.
