A Russian woman in her fifties ordered Dom Perignon to go with her salad at the Fairmont’s Nikki Beach but didn’t have money to pay for her feast, Monaco’s Criminal Court was told last week.
Nervous waiters were told that her daughter and son-in-law would come along and settle the bill, but their wait was in vain, local French-language daily Monaco Matin reported. The bill amounted to more than 1,000 euros, including the salad.
Earlier this year the culprit had stolen items from Decathlon and the Ferry pharmacy and was given a suspended jail sentence. On this occasion she was told by the presiding magistrate it would have been better to dine at McDonalds.
This was her third appearance in court in Monaco and not her last. The tribunal ordered a psychiatric examination and the case will be heard again tomorrow.
