American visitors to Monaco made a major comeback during 2022, helping to offset lower numbers from Russia, Ukraine, China, Japan and the UK.
On the up were tourist numbers from the Middle East and Mexico, Guy Antognelli, Director of Tourism and Conventions, told an audience of tourism professionals at the Fairmont on Tuesday, March 21.
The hotel occupancy rate was up from 2021, unsurprisingly as 2021 was still impacted by coronavirus restrictions, but below 2019, the last full year before the pandemic.
This year promises to be even better, partly due to income per room having increased.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Office has coined a catchy slogan to attract more North American visitors. ‘Like nowhere else’ captures Monaco’s unique appeal, the Office said.
