Since signing with AS Monaco in the previous season’s January transfer window, Brazilian right back Vanderson has performed consistently on the pitch, earning a regular starting spot in the process and scoring a couple of goals on the way.
Vanderson played in 22 matches last season, scoring twice and assisting three times, and it looks like there is still much more to come, as he has joined his compatriot at the club, Caio Henrique in extending his contract with Monaco until 2027.
At just 21 years of age, Vanderson has already demonstrated his maturity on the pitch through generous passing and a technical quality that he picked up at his training club, Gremio in Brazil.
The extension of Vanderson’s contract at such an early stage in his stint with the Principality side shows that he is settling in well with the club.
With five new summer signings this transfer window and the contract extensions of Vanderson and Henrique, Monaco seem to be reinvesting in the team and laying the foundations for a successful few seasons to come.
“It is with enthusiasm that we announce the extension of Vanderson’s contract. This signing once again demonstrates our continued ambition and testifies to our strategy of working with the best young players in Europe,” said Monaco Sporting Director Paul Mitchell, before adding that: “He showed from the first moments in Monaco his very high quality and his potential. He is still young and it is important that he continues to develop but he has a good mindset, he is focused on his work and shows maturity.”
