Christian Estrosi, the Mayor of Nice with an opinion on all matters, large and small, has offered his support to France’s health minister, Brigitte Bourguignon, who on Monday strongly recommended that everyone use a mask on public transport as coronavirus cases increase.

He indicated he was ready for his part to make the wearing of a face mask obligatory on the 2,500 kilometres of transport routes that he manages in the Nice agglomeration.

He said on Tuesday that the present challenge is in dealing with what he called the “influx of tourists” ahead of the start of the new school year in September. Previously the Mayor had lamented the lack of visitors due to health restrictions that lasted too long.

He added that although it wasn’t desirable, it may be necessary to reintroduce a Health Pass for those arriving from foreign parts at Nice Airport as soon as at the end of July.

All in all, it would seem that anyone contemplating flying from Nice this summer should buy a return leg ticket two weeks before the ides of August.
