It was a Greek-American Odyssey and an unforgettable Greek Gala night for the 70th Anniversary of the Hellenic Community of Monaco and the 60th Anniversary of the American Club of the Riviera on Sunday May 8 at the Yacht Club.

In the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, the joint Anniversary Gala was organised by both the Hellenic Community of Monaco as well as of the American Club of the Riviera, to celebrate the 70th (and the 60th respectively) anniversary of their presence in the Principality.

The Anniversary Gala dinner had a pleasant surprise by presenting a show of a Greek Folk Dance group in traditional costumes. The group of 20 Greek dancers and musicians flew to Monaco from Greece, exclusively for the event.

During the evening, the president of the Hellenic Community of Monaco, Mrs Sophia Vaharis Tsouvelekakis, spoke of the mission of the Hellenic Community as well as its role and activities in Monaco. The president of the American Club of the Riviera, Mr Timothy Molyneux talked about the importance of Clubs and Associations working together for the common good of the community.

A fund-raising auction, with the help of Mrs Safia el Malqui, raised 8,150 euros for the Cap-Optimist project to support the Monaco-Athens crossing on paddle boards for the benefit of the Princess Charlene Foundation.
