Two of Monaco’s restaurants were closed by administrative order last week – each for four days – for breaking the coronavirus regulations.

However, by the time the closure notices were published in the official gazette on July 30, both Avenue 31 and the Ship and Castle had reopened for business.

In the case of Avenue 31 the infraction was a waiter and a bartender not wearing a face mask at exactly midday on July 13.

At the Ship and Castle the Monaco police on their visit on July 11 found that clients were not wearing face masks when not seated and the distance between tables was unsufficient. A further infraction noted at 20:55 on the evening in question was the failure of some clients to produce evidence of address. The Journal de Monaco noted that these were ‘grave’ infractions.
