Monaco’s Automobile Club is planning for half-capacity grandstands for the forthcoming three Grand Prix events, starting next month, according to unconfirmed reports.

Paolo Ciccarone, writing in Italy’s Automoto, said: “The capacity of the stands has been reduced to 50 percent to allow for greater distancing among the public.”

“Depending on how the pandemic develops, an evolution of these rules may occur but – we repeat – none of this is official yet.
But certainly it is appreciated that those in Monaco are trying to have an audience instead of resigning themselves to a closed door race as seems to be the case in Imola and Portimao.”

Having had to cancel the Grand Prix in 2020, the Automobile Club obtained consent earlier this year to hold the events. Work on the stands and other infrastructure started in late February.
