The son-in-law of murdered heiress Helene Pastor has failed in his attempt to be freed on bail pending his appeal against conviction in March next year.

Wojciech Janowski, the former Polish consul in Monaco, and Al Hair Hamadi, were both sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder in Nice of Monaco billionaire Hélène Pastor and her driver Mohamed Darwich in May 2014.

Al Hair Hamadi was the watchman during the ambush in front of L’Archet Hospital Nice as Mme Pastor arrived to visit her son, who was recovering from a stroke. Janowski was the mastermind of the crime. The court’s decision came as no surprise.
